This armour, which is still under construction, is closely based on the original made by Lorenz Helmschmied of Augsburg for Archduke Sigismund of Tyrol in 1485 and represents the pinnacle of the late 15th century German armourer’s skill. Commissioned by Mark Capal for jousting purposes, the level of detail and authenticity extends to the use of heat treated 'spring' steel and 23 carat gilded fittings and decoration. Due for completion by early summer 2007, this armour will be seen in use at a number of shows performed by the jousting group 'Destrier'.
